Susan Tucker
EXECUTIVE COACH
Susan Tucker brings over 35 years of experience in executive assessment, succession management, coaching, and organizational culture change. She has partnered with hundreds of organizations across industries including technology, retail, energy, manufacturing, non-profit, and healthcare. Her clients have included Toyota, Nissan, USPS, Cisco Systems, Walmart, AT&T, Baylor Health, Texas Children’s Hospital, and Brinks, among many others.
Throughout her career, Susan has helped organizations identify hidden talent, strengthen succession pipelines, and prepare leaders for roles of increasing responsibility. She has advised boards on member selection, coached new CEOs as they’ve stepped into leadership, and guided hundreds of executives through successful transitions into more senior roles.
Before joining Avid Learner, Susan spent 25 years with Development Dimensions International (DDI), a global HR consulting firm based in Pittsburgh, where she served as a Senior Consultant and Executive Coach. She developed and implemented talent management and succession strategies, trained and certified other executive coaches, and worked extensively with global organizations and diverse cultures. She is certified in a range of assessment tools including the Hogan personality inventories, the Profiler 360, and multiple DDI training methodologies.
Susan’s passion lies in helping people grow, realize their full potential, and connect who they are with what they do. Her coaching style is direct yet warm, offering a clear mirror for leaders to see both their strengths and potential derailers. She encourages clients to capitalize on what they do best while continuing to grow in other areas. Known for creating a safe and open space, Susan listens deeply, asks tough but insightful questions, and invites thoughtful exploration. Her clients often remain connected long after engagements end—calling to share a win, talk through a challenge, or celebrate a milestone.
Susan holds a degree in Psychology from Kent State University and began her career in clinical crisis management before finding her calling in leadership and organizational development. An entrepreneur herself, she has built and sold two successful small businesses, applying the same strategic principles she teaches to corporate leaders. She also serves on the boards of two non-profit organizations and has held leadership roles as Secretary, Vice President, and President.
Outside of work, Susan enjoys traveling, cooking, reading, and spending time with her husband, two adult children, and four grandchildren. She is a lifelong learner and a voracious consumer of all things news.
